COVID-19 Is on the Rise Once Again. What Are Some Ways to Stay Safe?
The first wave of COVID-19 hit back in March of 2020. Eventually, Illinois and other States went into lockdown. Now once again, COVID-19 is hitting America hard which might be considered the third wave.
COVID-19 was declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020, by the World Health Organization. However, the first confirmed case was on January 22, 2020, in the United States. No one took the virus seriously until it started spreading from China and eventually was declared a pandemic by WHO. After that, by March 17 the cases rose to 1,399. By the end of the month, this number has been tripled to at least 164,000 individuals being confirmed of having COVID-19. Since then, cases have been rising.
In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated guidelines that would benefit everyone. These guidelines included how to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Some key ways to reduce the spread is to wash your hands, wear a mask, keep your six feet distance, and clean surfaces regularly.
It is important to follow these safety preventions or else we’ll be in the third wave and potentially face another lockdown. With the flu season also happening in the winter it is important to take care. By following these safety tips it is easier to control COVID-19 and reduce deaths.
